Pixel House is an architectural gem, but also a place that has gained recognition in the world of competitions and in the eyes of the local community. The building has become an integral part of Wrocław’s landscape. It is both a place to live and do business and a symbol of the city’s modernity, colour and development.
Pixel House, rising majestically on Legnicka Street in Wrocław, is not just a 9-storey residential and commercial building. It is an architectural masterpiece that has won the hearts of lovers of aesthetics in construction, as well as the prestigious grand prize in the ‘Beautiful Wroclaw’ competition for 2020. Developer WPBM Mój Dom S.A. is proud to present this iconic investment, not only representing modernity, but also creating new history and symbols of picturesque Wroclaw.
Building characteristics of Pixel House
Stretching along Legnicka Street, this building of unique architecture houses both residential and commercial premises. Due to its location on one of Wrocław’s main arteries and the possibility of easy access to every corner of the city, it is an example of a convenient place to both live and conduct business.
With the customers of the commercial space and the residents in mind, the designer provided an adequate number of parking spaces for cars and bicycles in the area. The Pixel House’s large, high soundproof windows provide natural light and silence – even in the bustling city centre itself.
Project of the Wrocław architectural bureau
The Pixel House building is not a typical concrete and glass structure. It is the result of cooperation between talented architects from the renowned Bzdęga-Wiśniewski Architectural Office, who created a colourful and non-standard design. Today, after years of using this building, it can be said without exaggeration that it is a harmonious combination of aesthetics and usability of space. The jury of the ‘Beautiful Wroclaw’ competition appreciated the architectural qualities of Pixel House, but also the well thought-out development, which is extremely functional for the residents.
History of the ‘Beautiful Wroclaw’ competition
The ‘Beautiful Wroclaw’ competition is an event that appreciates architecture and continues a tradition that dates back to 1961, when Wroclaw was searching for its identity after the destruction of war. It was then that the ‘Mister Wroclaw’ competition was born, often identifying buildings that later grew to become symbols, such as the iconic Trzonolinowiec, awarded in 1967.
Today, more than half a century later, the ‘Beautiful Wroclaw’ competition recognises the best construction projects in six categories. This event promotes the architecture of the city, appreciates the aesthetics and functionality of buildings and is an expression of the inhabitants’ taste, as anyone can submit proposals for the plebiscite.
